Now that Spring has sprung, many people are getting down to the business of remodeling their homes. For a lot of people, this means new vinyl flooring. If you've already picked out your floors, and only have to arrange to have them installed, you might be wondering how you should prepare for the arrival of your installation crew.
Here at Prianti's Flooring, we install a lot of floors in any given week, and we always appreciate the effort our clients put into getting ready. However, we also noticed that many of them go a bit too far, and do way more than is needed. So, we thought we'd throw together a quick list of a few things that help streamline the process for everyone, without going way beyond the call of duty. Here's the lowdown!
Store the Doors
Many vinyl floor installation teams will take care of taking down the doors for you, but there are a few compelling reasons why you might want to take care of it yourself. For one, you're team will be able to get started that much faster if it's done, getting you back to your normal daily life that much quicker. Second, if your doors are a cut above the standard fare, you might want to take extraordinary measures to protect them.
If you decide to do this bit for yourself, simply take down the doors and store them with a thick blanket or drop cloth dividing them, to keep them from getting scratched.
Prepare an Outdoor Work Area
Another great way to streamline the process is to set up an area outside that is sheltered from inclement weather, and has access to power where the team can do all of their cutting. This will, again, allow the team to work more quickly and efficiently, but will also reduce the amount of dust and debris that winds up in the house throughout the project.
Protect Your Corners
The crew is going to have cords for power tools running every which way while they work. These cords can scuff up the corners of your molding or walls, as they rub against them. An easy way to avoid this is to place gentle tape on the corners to protect them from the cords. It's a small step that makes a huge difference.
